Bamboo Garden
Direction: Right at the main break in the back but beginners can go left or right in the front.
Level: Beginner – upper intermediate
Best wind: West
Best swell size: 2 - 10 ft.
Best swell direction: East
Best tide: Mid – high
Best for: Beginners any time of year or more advanced surfers who prefer rights during bigger, cleaner swells as the other spot in Pacifico is a left.
Crowd factor: Low. This spot is not too crowded yet and as it’s a large surfing area people can spread out.
Kind of wave: This area actually covers 3 seperate & distinct surfing spots.
1. Main break (out in the back / furthest out to sea). Can be a big, long, beautfiul right handed wave when the wind and swell are good. Not super fast or scary so it’s suitable for intermediate surfers. It’s kind of a ‘fatter’ wave compared to the other reef breaks around Siargao but then again I have seen it barrel in perfect conditions. In the winter it’s unsurfable as it’s completely exposed to the onshore winds except for those rare winter days when the wind drops off.
2. The Left. If you’re looking straight out to sea from Bamboo Garden Resort you will see the main break (right) in front of you. Now look over the left in the bay and you’ll see a left breaking wave. This would be good for the goofy footers who prefer to go left. It’s not as long or shapely as the right but it’s definitely a good left wave when the conditions are working well.
3. In front / close to the beach. Smaller waves perfect for beginners or lessons any time of year.
Surf season:
Peak season: Fall. When we have big waves September, October, and November and little or offshore wind this spot is amazing!
Winter: The main break can’t be surfed and it’s only for beginners in the front except the rare winter days with no wind.
Spring & Summer: Very small but clean & surfable. Best for beginners, lessons, and longboarders. However, anyone desperate for a surf can jump in!
How to get there: Directly in front of Bamboo Garden Resort in Pacifico. About an hour drive from General Luna. Find the resort on Google Maps.
